The Presidents Inaugural Bands Parade – Ronald Reagan EPCOT Center (1985)

Ronald Reagan was sworn in for a second term as President of the United States on January 20, 1985.  Bitter cold weather forced the events to be moved indoors for a private ceremony, canceling the planned parade with more than 50 high school bands along with other outdoor events.

Representatives from Disney took the opportunity to leverage EPCOT Center, World Showcase, and the American Adventure to showcase a smaller version of the canceled inaugural parade.  The parade took place on May 27, 1985 – Memorial Day, featuring 20 of the 50 original High School bands.  The Parade was broadcast live and hosted by Robyn Carter and Judd Hambrick with appearances by Michael Eisner and of course Ronald Reagan.  The event marked the only time a non-Disney event took place EPCOTs American adventure.
