Disney+ in May 2026: Daredevil, Maul, Punisher, Bluey, and More

May 2026 brings big franchise finales, a major Marvel special, fresh family programming, and a few titles Disney fans will want to keep on their radar. The biggest hooks are easy to spot. “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” wraps up. “Daredevil: Born Again” reaches its season finale. Then Frank Castle steps back into the spotlight with “The Punisher: One Last Kill.”

At the same time, Disney+ keeps doing what it does best. It balances headline-grabbing franchise drops with comfort viewing, preschool favorites, and live-event programming that gives the service a little more week-to-week energy.  If you’re deciding what to watch first, here’s the Disney+ May 2026 lineup that matters most.

Daredevil and Punisher Lead Disney Plus May 2026

For many viewers, Marvel is the headline story this month. “Daredevil: Born Again” season 2 ends on Tuesday, May 5, with the finale dropping at 6 p.m. PT. That alone would make May a big month for Disney+, but it is not the only Marvel event on the calendar.

One week later, on Tuesday, May 12, Disney+ premieres “A Marvel Television Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill.” That gives the month a darker, street-level Marvel one-two punch. First, Matt Murdock’s story reaches a breaking point. Then Frank Castle gets his own spotlight.

That pairing gives Disney+ a strong identity in May. Instead of feeling like a filler month, it feels connected. Viewers who have stayed locked into Marvel’s grounded New York corner suddenly have two reasons to keep watching.

Maul Gives Star Wars Fans a Big May the 4th Hook

May the 4th always brings extra attention to Disney+, and this year there is a real Star Wars hook attached.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” reaches its two-episode season finale on Monday, May 4. That makes Star Wars Day feel more like an event instead of just a marketing moment. If you have been following Maul’s post-“Clone Wars” story, this is one of the biggest dates on the May calendar.

That alone gives Disney fans a good reason to check in early in the month. It also helps Disney+ keep Star Wars in the weekly conversation while the platform continues building toward what comes next for the franchise.

Bluey and Sofia Help Power the Family Side

Not every month on Disney+ needs to be powered by Marvel or Star Wars.  Sometimes the titles with the longest life are the ones families actually replay. That is where May 2026 gets stronger than it first looks. New “Bluey Minisodes” arrive on Wednesday, May 20, with 10 minisodes coming to Disney+ for the first time, giving one of Disney+’s most reliable streaming favorites another boost. For many households, that will be the most-played new release of the month. The family side of the schedule also includes new episodes of “Playdate with Winnie the Pooh,” “Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel,” “Magicampers,” “BeddyByes,” “RoboGobo,” and “Hey A.J.!”

Then there is one title longtime Disney Channel fans may notice right away. “Sofia the First: Royal Magic” begins on Disney Jr. on Monday, May 25, with the first eight episodes arriving on Disney+ on Tuesday, May 26. That one feels especially interesting because it revives a recognizable Disney brand for a new generation while giving older fans a little nostalgia boost too.

American Idol Keeps Disney Plus Feeling Current

Disney+ has quietly become more useful when it offers something viewers can follow in real time.  That continues in May with “American Idol” streaming live on Monday, May 4, and Monday, May 11, at 8 p.m. ET. It is not a Disney+ Original, but it still adds appointment viewing to the month.

'American Idol' Expands Its Live Viewing Experience to Disney+

That matters more than it used to. Streaming services can feel disposable when everything drops into a library and disappears into the scroll. Live programming gives Disney+ a reason to feel current, shared, and immediate.

More May 2026 Picks Worth Watching

May is not only about the biggest franchises.

National Geographic’s “Tucci in Italy” premieres on Tuesday, May 12, and could end up being one of the month’s sleeper picks. Stanley Tucci’s food-and-travel storytelling has a built-in audience, and it gives Disney+ something with a very different flavor from the service’s superhero and Star Wars content.

There are also Hulu-branded additions rolling into Disney+ for bundle viewers, including “The Boss (El Encargado),” “Impuros,” “Gold Land,” “Perfect Crown,” and “Travis Japan Summer Vacation!! in the USA.” Those titles will not be the main click drivers for every Disney fan, but they do help fill out the monthly lineup.

Sports-style event programming also shows up with “Banana Ball: Bananas vs. Tailgaters” on May 23 and “Banana Ball: Party Animals vs. Coconuts” on May 29.

The Biggest Reasons to Check Disney Plus in May

If you strip away the full release calendar and focus on what will likely drive the most interest, the May 2026 Disney+ lineup comes down to five big talking points:

That is a pretty healthy mix. There is something for Marvel fans, Star Wars fans, families, and longtime Disney viewers.

Sam’s Disney Diary Take

May 2026 may not be the biggest Disney+ month of the year, but it has more punch than it first appears.

The Marvel side is strong. The Star Wars finale gives May the 4th real weight. “Bluey” keeps the family side of Disney+ healthy. And “Sofia the First: Royal Magic” could be one of those quieter premieres that ends up meaning more than expected.

That is usually when Disney+ works best. Not when every title is massive, but when the month gives different kinds of viewers a reason to show up.
