Dancing with the Stars has always built its ballroom around different generations of pop culture, but Season 35 may have found an especially fun mix. When the competition returns for a two-night premiere on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET, the cast will include familiar faces from television, movies, music, sports, reality TV and social media. For anyone who grew up in the ’90s and early 2000s, however, a few names immediately stand out.
Tatyana Ali, Taylor Hanson and Julia Stiles are all heading to the ballroom.
That means The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Hanson’s “MMMBop” era and the movies that made Julia Stiles one of the most recognizable young stars of her generation are all represented in the same season. And the nostalgia doesn’t stop with the celebrities.
Familiar Faces Return to Dancing with the Stars
Season 35 also brings some familiar professional dancers back into the competition.
Sharna Burgess returns to the ballroom as Tyler Cameron’s partner, while Mark Ballas will dance with Maura Higgins.
They join returning pros including Val Chmerkovskiy, Witney Carson, Jenna Johnson, Britt Stewart, Emma Slater, Daniella Karagach and others.
The combination gives Season 35 an interesting balance. Longtime viewers get recognizable stars and returning ballroom favorites, while younger audiences will find competitors from current reality shows, social media and sports.
